AGENDA: Call for Items for tonight's chat meeting
This is a call for agenda items for tonight's 6:30 meeting via OnCourse Chat. Please add or revise the entry below as needed. An agenda should help us to stay on target and to have some control over the meeting. If you remove something from the agenda, please note it in a section at the bottom of the page.

3. Application of timeline to the tasks. Can we meet the general timeline we discussed previously:
- Our preliminary class report is due February 14.
- We have a March 2nd deadline for our first report.
- We estimate the halfway point to fall between March 9 and March 23.
- Our final project is due April 25

I echo Mike's comments about some of the tasks being above and beyond what our perceived scope of the projected being. Unless they are willing to hire a full-time web designer / manager I don't see some of the dynamic elements being practical. Server side applications should be moved to the side as something we can implement / include if we have time and resources to do so as per our timeline / deadlines. If we were able to deliver on these items, it would only complicate the task of providing documentation for their staff to keep the "thing" running and up to date.
While I understand her wanting knowledgeable folks to help in the management aspect of the library; I think we need to add to the agenda somewhere in item #1...what is our vision of the deliverable we are creating? Are we creating an informational kiosk or is this website going to be dynamic in nature? Their calendar is the only dynamic aspect and its a third-party application.
We need someone to manage and enter the required information on the Excel spreadsheet. Should this person necessarily be the secretary for minutes? What about the viewable logistics? Should this item be viewable to all for discussion and input AS we are discussing what and who goes where?
I see some logistical limitations with the chat feature. Looking forward to it...:)
I'll work on finding out how to syndicate to PDA format. I have some contact who might be able to explain to me how this can be done. I do believe that it involves pointing to another style sheet, but I'm not certain what the industry standard is for the margins yet, nor am I certain how to get specific devices to point to a specific style sheet.
Mandy - how much experience do you have with setting up all of these extra modules? It's a bit intimidating. Here are specific concerns...
First, we are going to have an issue with Earthlink as far as testing things out. Earthlink is not likely to run scripts of any kind, ie. perl, CGI etc.
Second, I'm not under the impression that its as simple as including a link. An input interface usually has to be designed, and then specific data has to be pointed to specific places. It's a bit over my head - unless I was working on this and only this for the next few months.
Finally, revolving banner announcements are pretty ugly unless you're going for the CNN Headline news look. From a design standpoint I'd rather see the announcements in calendar format.
That's my input for now. See you all in a few minutes.
